Questions about wedding receptions!!!!please?
Hi Laura and congratulations!

I like the victorian lilac color. Are you having bridesmaids or was that color for you? Are you having some kind of ceremony or just a reception?

In any case, for the reception:

~ It all depends on your budget, of course! Your choices range from a private room at a nice restaurant, to a hotel banquet room, golf course banquet, someone's home or backyard, or a bed %26amp; breakfast.

~ 50 people should not be too expensive. If you are on a very tight budget, then have something at your home, or a friend or relatives home. Get a caterer to come in or do your own! The choices are endless.

~ Have a photographer if you want. Play some music on an ipod, have some food and drinks and don't forget the cake!

Enjoy!
Reply:You should definately do a destination wedding.

My top choice would be barefoot on the beach in Costa Rica

Good luck and congrats!
Reply:lilac is a good color to use

the food you could just have a cattier do it

they will know what kinds of food that would be good for your wedding
Reply:Find a reception hall and book it first, that way you'll know what kind of decorations you can have and how many you'll need, what colors look good in the place, the season, etc.
Reply:you can always fly to canada and get a quickie marriage, and then come back for the reception. go nuts for the reception, and live it up.
Reply:Victorian Lilac is one of my wedding colors (I'm getting married in August), we are also using silver. The Lilac will be bridesmaids and the maid of honor in silver. How long and what time of day are you looking at having the reception? Do you want to just serve finger foods, have a desert reception, or have a dinner? Our meal (and we are having 75 people so it's not too far from yours)

Taste of Italy

*Rosemary, garlic herb chicken

*Fettuccine in alfredo sauce

*Bread Sticks

*Caesar salad

Great meal and relatively inexpensive. Hope this helps and congrats!
Reply:Congratulations! A suggestion, go to home depot or lowes and go to the paint department, find the lilac paint chip then match it up to some other colors that you like, this will help you decide what will go best.

Your food selection would be based on several things, season of the wedding, time of day that your reception will be held. Will there be a theme to your reception? That would also influence your food choices as well as your decorations. Good luck.
Reply:congratulations!!

You can get married in Massachusetts? and make it a destination wedding/reception/vacation.

Where you live now why not have a commitment ceremony? Its not unheard of.

Why should you have another color? That sounds lovely.

Start with the venue they book up fast. Then you can proceed with everything that follows including picking dresses, finding an officiant, caterer, florist etc. Look into something meaningful to you both for the ceremony location, if you both love art what about a museum or at a local landmark?
