I'm painting my room....?

It's a hidious greenish color right now, but I don't usually hate green. I'm looking for a fun, feminine and relazing color, but the only thing is that I have a green shag carpet that I cant get rid of :( I was thinking that maybe I could convince my mom to let me pay for and put in hardwoon, but I dunno. I like fun cool colors but I don't know what to dop about the floor.

All my furniture is wood painted black and I cant paint that

Any color scheme ideas?

I seen home makeover a while ago and I kinda liked the light lilac color they put in one teen girls room, but I still don't know. I also thaught of light pink, but again with the floors

Any tips at all would be awesome!

I'm painting my room....?
Ok, call me "kooky"...but I'd do the opposite of everyone else...and primer the walls to prevent the green showing through...because I'd paint the walls white!

I'd get rid of the green rug...I'm thinking Wow! You could have any color bedspread, curtains, pillows, throws...almost anything would go in that room...even what you hang on the walls...and decorations...

Now how kool and classy is black and white!!!! then you can add any accent color you want in the rainbow...LOL

Now I want to paint one of my rooms!!!

Have fun decorating :)
Reply:paint the room lime green but not too brite get sheets and accwsories with a zebra pattern also add in some pink accesories for more color
Reply:i think you should do it hot pink lime green and black that would look really cool
Reply:hardwood can be extremely expensive. have you checked to see what's under the carpet? you might already have wood down there.

As for colors, I don't really like purples or pinks so I don't know that my opinion on that would be yours. I think an ocean blue or a wonderful sunrise orange would be beautiful. Orange makes your room really warm and cheerful.

You could always stencil too, this is something that amazed me recently and was done with a basic doodle and a projector:

You might start to like the shag carpet color if you just find some neutral wall colors to make it less insane. Maybe a taupe paint with pale pink or mint victorian/gothic pattern?
Reply:Funky pinks go with the green carpet (hopefully). And I know this may sound kind of crazy, and you really need to ok this with the parents FIRST. ok - disclaimer done. I have had good success with bleaching my carpet. I mix a little bleach in with a carpet shampooer and shampoo the carpet. It will lighten the color. I would try it on a part of the carpet that is never seen. Do it once, let it dry, and see if you like the color. If you still want it lighter, do it again and let it dry. Keep track of how many times you had to do the spot. When you get it the color you can deal with, just do the rest of the carpet the same number of times and you should have the shade of green you want. Then you could do the pinks, yellows, or whatever you like. There are also companies who would dye the carpet, but more expensive. Look at wallpapers and see what colors they put together to get some ideas. You could paint a base color and then do the sponge splotches in other colors. Just some thoughts, Rail
Reply:pink and green are beautiful together.. also try lilac colors with green, watch hgtv shows for great ideas.. u could go for a off white wall or a pale color and add purple/pink in comforter, pillows etc... garden ridge and hobby lobby got neat stuff in lots of colors
Reply:Yellow sounds good to me. It will go well with your green carpeting. There are any number of yellow's to choose from.

Light, bright, in between.

Lilac or pink just wouldn't do it even though you really like the colors.

Your black furniture would really accent the wall color. Now black and yellow become your accent colors. A couple throw rugs in darker yellow, depending on what color yellow you pick for the wall. Light walls...darker yellow throw rugs. Or reverse the color of the rugs, again depending color of the

walls.

Yellow or a shinny gold on dressers. Three accents pillows of black and shinny gold on your bed.

By the time your finished, you're not even going to notice the color of the carpenting, because that is no longer the vocal point of your room. Shinny gold accents would be good looking with a little black in the material.

Don't discount the Good Will or second hand stores for fabrics you want to use. Don't need large piecs. Can check out the pillows there too.

You want to take the eye of the green carpet, but you still have to remember, it's there.
Reply:How about painting it "forward Fuschia" by sherwin williams? paired with the green carpet, it would look *funky*.

Reply:Hot Pink does go well with lime bright green. it depends on the shade of your green carpet. You might want to just paint it a better green color to complement the floor if you can't change it. Light pink wouldn't go with the floors unfortunately. If you want, you can paint the walls a nice taupe, brown or tan as that goes with ANYTHING and then use accents of hot pink, like curtains, do different shades of green through out the room, maybe in some throw pillows and some pink as well through the room. You could make it look funky and cool like the carpet belongs and all those accessories, pictures, curtains and such will be much less than wood floors. Hope that helps, good luck!
