Help me color-coordinate the mother-of-the-bride!?

I am going shopping tomorrow with my mother and future mother-in-law to hopefully pick the dresses they will wear to my wedding. I'm having a little trouble envisioning what would work well.

We're having a summer afternoon wedding with an outdoor reception. My dress is long, white, and formal; my bridesmaids are wearing knee-length dresses in Pacific Blue:

The groomsmen are in black tuxedos with sky blue vests. The fathers are in silver vests (but this could be changed).

Here are my ideas for the mothers:

Silver (but it might not look very summery)

Navy blue (could get way too hot)

Clover or sage

Lavender, lilac, or eggplant

What do you think would be best? Do you have other color ideas? Style suggestions would be great, too, and pictures are always helpful. Thanks!

I would say maybe a pink, purple

maybe something like this color

maybe put the moms in champagne and have the dads wear champagne vests

you can do a lighter blue which would match with the silver

I like motherm's suggestion of yellow, maybe one mom in pink and one in yellow, or one in pink and one in lilac

hope this helps, good luck and congrats
Reply:Instead of silver, how about a grey. There are shades that kinda ride the line between grey and silver. Basically, the rules with MOB and MOG dresses is... as long as everyone is happy. colors arent really a focus.

Other considerations. The complimentary color for blue, is yellow. Umm... a different shade of blue. Options are endless.
Reply:i would keep everyone in coordinating colors, like lighter blues! but its ultimately up 2 u and ur fiance.

the guys clothes are good.

my only concern is that silver is very similar to white, so unless u want everyone is a similar color that ur wearing, keep the mothers in a blue color.

btw, i love those dresses 4 the bridesmaids! :D
Reply:Mothers are generally in complimentary colors (NOT matchy colors). Silver is going to clash with the bride. Navy is not a summer color. I would try a dusty rose color, perhaps a soft yellow. You don't want both moms in the same color.
Reply:why do they have to be matchey matchey?? let the moms pick what they like and will be happy in- its not something you need to stress about.

instead have a great shopping with the girls day with your two moms and enjoy yourselves

good luck and

happy tidings
Reply:i think that you should go with the silver.

that way they can match the fathers.

i think that since your groomsmen %26amp; bridesmaids are summery they dont need to be.

it will look beautiful.
Reply:Any color except black, white, or the exact color of the bridesmaids.

Whatever color looks best on each mom. They do not have to match.
Reply:I like the purple shades. You could do a peach or mauve. Or go with the silver, but do a grey instead. light blue might look nice too.
Reply:lavender or a Light blue, not dark becaus ethey would get really hot and it looks like winter. Congrat on your wedding and I hop you 2 are togehter 4ever.
Reply:I would put one in a dark purple and one in a light purple, keep the dads in silver vests.
Reply:I believe that they should choose their own dresses. You have enough to worry about!
Reply:You are having an outdoor reception on a summer afternoon in a formal gown with the men in tux'es and you are asking what would work well for the mothers?

If everyone if going formal why not put the ladies in gowns....which shouldn't be worn before 5.

The only colors I see suitable for summer would be lavender or lilac. Are you dressing them in the same color and style of dress? What colors look good on them? Why don't you wait and see what they like and then judge how it fits in.

Pink goes with blue.. yellow goes with blue... beige go with blue, prints go for afternoon weddings. What are you stressing over? Relax. If they know what look you are after they will cooperate. If not....cry.
