1) A is a white crystalline solid. When some of A was heated with sodium hydroxide solution, a pungent smelling gas B was evolved. Gas B turned red litmus paper blue. Another portion of A was dissolved in water. This solution produced a white precipitate C on addition of acidified barium chloride solution.
What are A, B, and C?
2) When dilute sulphuric acid is added to the blue solution D, effervesence takes place and a colorless, odourless gas E which turns lime water milky is produced. When the reaction is complete, a blur solution F is left.
What are D, E and F?
3) Substance G is a white solid which gives a lilac colour to the bunsen flame because it contains the ion H. A solution of G produces a white precipitate I when silver nitrate solution is added to it.
