What is the rarity of red/maroon eyes and are there documented photos of any?

In direct sunlight the topic of my eyes always arises. In dim lighting they look maroon, but in sufficient light are approximately #CC1100 (dark red). I regard them as red in general as in lighting it doesn't look even close to brown. I always thought they were as common as lilac eyes, but I can't find any information on them, or even genetic information on the mutation itself (besides Wikipedia which seems unreliable). Help please. :)

I know this one guy..he's got yellow eyes.. Gets joy out of tearing peoples internal organs out of their body and making them taste their own chewy intestines. He's not a bad guy. Just misunderstood.

I wuv jensen.
Reply:Well, I managed to find some information on a tree frog, a cicada and a bird with this eye colour. I don't think that will help.
Reply:I found one good website for photo search.

It would be helpful for your need.

Reply:Hmmm. Are you a human? An Alien? A photo taken with poor lighting?
