What colour and decor should i have?

We are just moving house and i have been given the smallest bedroom. What colours and decor do u think i should go for that would open the room and make it seem bigger?

I was going to go for a very pale lilac colour and get a mink canvass wardrobe ( in argos ) and a pair of cream tab top curtains with a blind.

What colour and decor should i have?
chocolate and cream with pink fluffy bed cushions

note: those canvas wardrobes are rubbish, they fall to bits and break easily..
Reply:Get a nice big mirror or two as well, that will reflect more light into the room and make it seem more spacious...
Reply:you're on the right track. paint it in a soft color of lilac. light colors tend to make a room look and appear bigger. and light colors also reflects lights so it would make ur room cheery, relaxing, and well lighted.
Reply:Always thought that pale colours made a room look bigger but I've painted our box bedroom (it's tiny) in a dark colour and surprisingly it looks bigger than when it was cream although I have stuck with plain curtains and a subtle patterned duvet etc! A big mirror at the end of the room can help and nothing too dark on the windows, to let the sun in. I quite like your ideas though, I love lilac, my daughter has a similar theme as you mentioned in her home in her bedroom and it looks gorgeous and so relaxing too!!
Reply:duck egg blue and chocolate work great together
Reply:IF YOUR ROOM HAS WINDOWS DEN go 4 some bold or bright colours 2 liven things up!!

IF THERE ISN'T ANY WINDOWS DEN u shld tone down the colours sumtink light but not pale or boring .... not neccescarily white though...

also, u cld use mirrors it opens up the area...

abt the furnitures dun use anythin which takes up alot of space..sumtink simple yet modern!!! 2 give u the sophisticated finishing touch...
Reply:a light color paint makes the room feel bigger
Reply:I'd go for a cream blackout roller blind, Black crome coloured or gold metal curtain pole, Lilac curtains with tie backs they look great tied back with tie backs (and i know where there is a curtain pole and curtains that will look really nice and won't cost you anything).

Cream carpet / wooden flooring maybe.

Lilac and pink bedding

Fluffy pink cushions

Pink fur throw over for your bed

A nice big mirror on the wall opposite your window will make your room lighter.

Lilac coloured light shade

Put some fairy lights up above your bed.

Buy yourself a nice vase put it in the middle of your window sill make an effort to buy yourself fresh pink/lilac flowers every week will make you feel good.

Look in argos buy yourself to standing lamps from floor upwards black or silver £10 for 2 from argos will look really nice. Invest in an oil burner and start relaxing.

New houses are soooo exciting.

Good luck best of all keep small rooms tidy or you lose space. :-) :-)
Reply:When I still lived with my parents I always had he small room, and light colours definitely give the room a bigger feel. I painted my walls white with a hint of blue.

Canvas wardrobes aren't great I'm afraid. We had one for about 2 years (from Argos) and a few weeks ago it just collapsed. You can sometimes find short single wardrobes - which are about 5 feet tall, and you can use the top as a sort of shelf. I used to have one, and I used to keep all my candles and incense etc. on top of it (all that stuff was all the rage back then!).

Good luck with your new room - have fun decorating it!
