Do you think I'm too old for pink decor in my bedroom?

I am 23 and live with my Dad. I am absolutely love the colour pink, so I have loads of pink accessories in my room - i.e. bedcovers (hot pink) blind and rug/candles etc.

My friends who have recently decorated have done so in more neutral colours e.g. creams and browns etc.

Do you think I'm too old for pink? My walls are lilac, so I was thinking of even painting my walls cream and perhaps keeping my accessories. What do you think?

Do you think I'm too old for pink decor in my bedroom?
You can do pink, but in a sophisticated way. Do lots of pink accents (throw pillows, pillow cases, vases, art) and mix up the shades and pick a neutral color as a base for the room. Chocolate and beige would look nice, or black and white for more drama. And don't overwhelm the room with pink, let it speak for itself int he accents. And don't mix it too much with another color like purple or blue, it'll look too barbie.
Reply:Decorate your room the way that makes you happiest.

I'm almost 25 and the walls of my bedroom are pink. I painted them that way when I finally had the chance after years of living at home and in rentals, and after a lifetime of white and eggshell walls, I love having such a fun color around me. Most of my accessories are white/neutral, but it's still very... pink, when you walk in.

My boyfriend teases me about it occasionally, but he hasn't yet spontaneously combusted from sleeping in such a girly environment.
Reply:No wayyy you're not too old for pink. But instead of painting your walls pink and lilac or whatever, maybe you should stick to painting them a cream colour so it looks more sophisticated and womanish instead of girly. Then even tho you can have some hot bright pink accesories, maybe go for a darker, more crimson pink for the curtains and bed covers .etc. Darker pinks are more sexy and sultry too :p Thats what ive done and i have to say, my room's beautiful =D
Reply:Pink decor is fine. When painting a room, I like to keep in mind how the house would look if you were to put it on the market. Neutral colors are very stylish and would also be more attractive to potential buyers than lilac or hot pink walls, so I think cream walls would look very good and make a good background for your pink bedcovers and decor items.
Reply:Of course not!

You can use pink and still have it look "grown-up" ... the trick is to use a neutral color and another STRONG color (perhaps black?) to balance the bright pink.

You could certainly paint the walls cream ... that would be a safe choice. But a really gorgeous complement to the bright pink would be a soft grey ... or even a muted pinkish-grey.

If you love a color, keep it!
Reply:Well, no! All of it depends if you like the color or not. Well, I have an idea! paint your walls a cream color. Try to get rid of SOME of your little nic-nacs. Then, keep some of them. And get some that arn't pink, but go well with cream colors. (Brown, Hot Pink, Light Pink, Blue)

Reply:A bedroom should be a place that is comforting to you. If your dad does not protest, which I feel he shouldnt, and you are causng no damage do it what ever you like. I know a retired lady who has done most her house inside and out in pinks and creams and its great. You might look for more things in pink at resale, make and style and sew your own curtains. You can make throw pillows to match curtains also. Have fun,, *mamatx
Reply:You're never too old! My sister is the same way with purple and she's in her mid-twenties. If you "prove" that you're adult in other ways - getting an education, getting a good job, ect - then it doesn't matter what your room looks like as long as it reflects how you are and what you like.

And it stinks to have to live in a room when it's not what you want!
Reply:Barbara Cartland- ( author and relative of Princess Diana ) was in her 80's last time I heard of her and had everything pink, clothes , shoes, hair, and all her decor. Now I'm not saying you should go as mad as that but yes if you like pink 'what the heck' go for it !!!!!!
Reply:I think if you want a pink room, then have a pink room! Who cares how old you are, people worry too much about what others think. The idea of a neutral room with your pink accessories sounds good if you want to even it out a little, but I think just do whatever makes you happy.
Reply:uhmmmm . you can do pink . just not like .. PINK! not like a baby pink .. like a grown up pink . . not a sweet 16 pink . get it ? lol . or you cna paint your walls another color . .and then make everything else pink like you said .. or you can paint your celing pink or something crazy like that!
Reply:u can never be to old for pink. and besides, its just a color. so i say paint ur walls pink too. who cares what anyone thiks as long as u like it.

so, NO, u arent too old! and if u arent comfortable with painting ur walls bright pin, maybe go for a softer shade.

good luck!

= ] hope i helped!
Reply:no hot pink is a more mature, but still girly color=)

if your planning to redo your room, paint your walls, hmm maybe white or something, then have your bed hot pink and add black, like black furniture and stuff. good luck=)
Reply:No, obviously someone has said something to you, to force you out of your own individual taste. Its your bedroom, and if you wish to paint it pink - then so be it.
Reply:No. It's your room. You're never too old to like something. You're never too old to be true to yourself. Make your room yours. Screw what everyone else thinks, they don't live there.
Reply:What? I missed it when people become to old for colors!.. :o) I'm the same age and could care less what everyone elses room looks like.. sounds like all that pink is what makes you unique!.. Hold onto that!
Reply:What? Your'e never to old to just love a color it's just a color it's not like the teletubies or anything lol.I don't think so,it's JUST a color! =]
Reply:You're never too old for pink or any other color that you love. I WOULD, however, paint the walls a creamy shade ...you can then add accents in chocolate or black.
Reply:If the Nazi's could throw all their decorations around and hang their flags up all over the place

You can keep it pink!
Reply:If you like it then its fine, doesnt matter what age you are. I do think tho that the cream might look nicer than the lilac.
Reply:Depends on what type of pink. If it's a light pink, it'll look good. If it's "barbie" (hot) pink, not so much.
Reply:if you like pink you like pink. do what you want but you could paint your walls cream to make the other pink stuff pop. cool!
Reply:You can't grow out of something you like that much, and there's nothing wrong with that. Keep the pink girl!
Reply:You can do anything tastefully.

Look though decorating magazine and online for ideas you like..... moderation is key. Try to avoid over~kill.

I agree, you are never too old!
Reply:if you like pink, you like pink!! you can never be too old :)
Reply:no ur not too old 4 pink in ur room. but dont put like butterflies or ladybugs in it. that is just wrong!!! if u like pink then go 4 it
Reply:Why not? I am 50 and have a living room in mostly purple. People love it and it represents who I am.
Reply:if you like pink and it makes you happy, go with it.

silvery gray walls would look great with pink
Reply:Pink is okay for grown ups. Just can the teddy bears and butterflies and go with a more grown up pink look.
Reply:I think there is no relation between the wall color and the age.
Reply:Your never to old for the colour you like, But if you did want a change, you could use different shades?
