How can I persuade my parrot to eat veggies?

I own a lilac crowned amazon, 4 yo.

I recently acquired him and converted his seed diet to a pellet diet. He loves the pellets and eats them all the time.

He also likes apples, grapes, mango, %26amp; kiwi.

I eat these in front of him, before i give them to him and act out about how "delicious" they are "mmmmmm".

I have tried to feed him:

carrots - dont like

red bellpepper - dont like

celery - dont like

tomatoes - dont like

snap peas - dont really like

bannana - likes a small taste

brocolli - dont like

I have been told that they need important vitamins which veggies have, but he wont eat them!

How can I persuade my parrot to eat veggies?
Well, you could try mixing little bits of veggies through the bird seed or you can buy fruit seads for birds at you local food store like woolworths etc. They looks like seeds but they are actually fruit. There are different types of packets for different birds, i have a cockatiel. Just go to the pet section and you should find it their. I think the brand shmakos has them too.

Goodluck♥
Reply:I'd recommend making toys out of the foods or making it so that he has to forage to get them - to make it interesting and fun. You could also get him to try eating dried veggies and fruits as well. Or use vitamins but really, I think what you're doing is good as he is eating some fruits and on a pellet diet which should provide the rest.

Also, try preparing them differently. My birds love carrots when they are soft and cooked vs cold and hard.
Reply:Well... as much as this sounds horrible, it's true...

Some birds will eat veggies, and some birds wont. So if a birds mind is made up, then there's no changing it. You could try to feed him vegetable pellets that are often sold at the Aviary's, or pet stores. Some avian vets even sell it. When you find some you can mix it in with some of its normal diet to even out the process of digesting and getting used to the food. Thats about the most that you can do for him if he refuses to eat the veggies. Also bear in mind that most pellet brands have the needed vitamins and minerals the birds need. So dont worry too much.

Well i hope this helps you and good luck to you and your bird! =)
Reply:I have a 3 year old DYH amazon, she doesn't really like veggies either. She does enjoy banana peppers...also, the vitamin A in peppers that they need can also be found in sweet potatoes. My 'zon LOVES baked sweet potato. Since he mostly likes sweets, just be on the lookout for signs of diabetes, which 'zons are prone to having.
Reply:My parrot (Grey) never eats raw veggies, except carrots. She does eat many cooked veggies, especially peas, rice, broccoli, and beans. Before feeding these veggies, I rinse them with water to wash off excess salt and oil.

Purists would say we should "never" feed human food, but I disagree. As long as it's in moderation and not heavily seasoned, I see no problem feeding huamn food.

The only danger is that many parrots get "addicted" to certain human food, many of which are not healthy diets (such as potato chips, ice cream, etc). So be careful.
Reply:try letting him eat off of your plate. let him sit on your table and watch you eat. You might be surprised.

But like others have said, if they're never introduced to the veggies when they're young, they just don't like them. Have you tried any meats like roast or chicken? Maybe cooking them in a crockpot with veggies will give the veggies a better flavor. My grey adores roast, carrots and potatoes from the crockpot.
