Wedding dress/bridesmaids' dress dilemma...?

http://davidsbridal.com/bridal_gowns_det...

I love this dress, but it seems impossible to find bridal party dresses that are simpler in style without being drab, or outrageously priced. The accent color is lilac. Everything I've seen outshines the wedding dress, or is shiny satin instead of chiffon, etc.

I do have another dress I love (it's a little more fancy), and found bridesmaid's dresses to match, but I want to see what my options are before choosing. Any ideas on where I can find the perfect bridal party dresses that follow the specs?

What do you consider outragously priced?

I had a wedding on a budget in California (under $5,000) for 100 people and didn't have to sacrifice quality. Everybody abslutely loved the place, the accents and the bridesmaids dresses.

I actually had them custom made for $95 a piece because the original was floor length and I wanted them knee length except for the maid of honor dress. I got the idea from this website, check it out.

Reply:Get red bride's maids dresses. (my recommendation). That is a beautiful dress by the way. Have a good wedding!
Reply:maybe a offwhite dress or liac for the bridal dresses.
Reply:Have a look at debenhams. They have some great dresses in there.

I have a gorgeous wedding dress that has never been worn or alterd that has to go to a new home.
Reply:I love the wedding dress you've picked out!

Have you considered going to a seamstress to get the bridesmaids dresses made instead of going through a bridal store? My friend did that for her wedding...she chose the pattern and the color. We each (the bridesmaids) paid for the material and the cost of making our dress...it worked out really well. They looked awesome and I only paid $40 for my dress, so it wasn't outrageously expensive. This way you can pick out the pattern and material you like (go to a crafts store, like Joanne Fabrics) Just a different suggestion for you :) Hope this helps. Have fun planning your wedding :)
Reply:Hello Kai, have you considered not going to a bridal store...like a "regular" store. My suggestion would be "Windsor" for your bridal party needs. There they have elegant dresses but not as "formaly" as bridal stores. You could also have them wear their gowns short, not floor length. There is nothing in writing that states the wedding party need to be in floor length gowns. Mine wasn't and they looked great! Just a thought...go try Windsor Fashion.. and good luck! :D
Reply:Just a little piece of advice (sorry for not answering your question better!) I've been told by NUMEROUS people that David's Bridal will stick it to you and WAY overcharge you when they do your alterations, so you may want to take it somewhere else for that. Sorry, I just don't want you to run into any surprises!
Reply:There is no way that the bridesmaids can outshine you.

I was a bridesmaid for my friend last year and I had my dress made in shot silk. It was sleeveless and knee length. Give the girls simple pretty coloured knee length dresses and they won't look more spectacular than you.
