Chemistry question alkalin metals?

Hello, I need help to do this question.

1. One of the akali metals reacts with oxygen to form a solid white substance. When this substance is dissolved in water, the solution gives a positive test for hydrogen peroxide, H2O2. When the solution is tested in a burner flame, a lilac-purple flame is produced.

a) What is the likely identity of the metal? (i believe it is potassium)

b) Write a balanced chemical equation for the reaction of the white substance with water

Thanks

Chemistry question alkalin metals?
a) Sodium

b) 2Na + O2 ===%26gt; Na2O2

Na2O2 + H2O ===%26gt; 2NaOH + H2O2

Sodium reacts with oxygen to produce sodium peroxide, Na2O2. Potassium reacts to produce potassium superoxide, KO2
