I have had my Vaio for less than a year, and the problem started pretty much after i got it. It happens about once every 2 months and i cannot seem to pinpoint what causes it.
I will be using it and the screen goes a little flickery, like with lines going right across every few minutes. All of a sudden the whole screen will go one solid colour. So far we have had green, blue, pink, lilac, white and black i believe. The strangest thing is that if my cursor is in a text box i.e messenger, i can still type. I just cant see what im typing! I can still hear everything running such as new message alerts on msn, it is literally just the screen. If i press the power button, the windows "hibernating" screen comes up, then when i reboot from here it is fine.
I am trying to refrain from having to send it in to the repair guys if you think it might be something more simple. The reason for this being they always wipe my HD! I have checked for screen driver updates and there arent any. Any ideas?
Sony Vaio Screen Problems?
well .. try uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it ... also it may be its overheating and u may have a serious dust blockage to the video section ... get some high power compressed air working blowing in from the vents in the back with the unit off ... hold the fan with somthing so it doesnt spin too fast ..
Reply:This sounds very much like a video card problem. As much as you hate to send it in, get an external drive and a copy of ghost and get a complete image of your drive. The time is ticking away on your warranty. This will be an expensive repair later on. If the screen was just going black I would say you have an inverter problem but since you are getting colors then it has to be a video problem. If it was software related, it would happen more often. This might also be related to excessive heat in the video card area. But in any case get it fixed as soon as you can.
Good luck
Reply:I just love my Vaio ... it not only performs well, but looks great too! Best of all, there is a site ( http://as101.com/ez/cksiqzpzizxl ) that offers a realistic chance of getting one free ... all I had to do was enter my zip code and perform a few quick and easy qualification steps. Not sure how long the offer will be available for?
Reply:look around in this website.
