Decorating spare bedroom. Any ideas?

My spare bedroom needs to be painted. Im not sure what colour to go with. It is a very bright room and very warm as it gets the sun all day. The furniture is pine and wooden floors so its a blank canvas at the moment. I was thinking of maybe a pale purple or lilac as a feature wall. Because its such a warm and bright room I don't mind choosing a cool colour scheme. Don't want to do red, green or neutral colours such as browns and creams. Have these colours already around the house.

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks.

Decorating spare bedroom. Any ideas?
im the same at the moment, i had trouble deciding a colour for my hallway when i have neutral colours in other rooms. i like your idea for lilac. what about a baby blue colour with silver accessories. or a mint green and carry on the pine bits with picture frames etc. my bedroom is aubergine and white with dark wood floors and furniture. if you've got in mind to use contrasting colours have a look at dulux bits they do a colour wheel to help you achieve the effect your after. good luck x
Reply:It kind of depends who is going to be using your spare room. Purple tends to be girly but to keep it more gender neutral you could do a light green or blue which both look great with pine.
Reply:how about a lovely aubergine %26amp; lime style with beautiful glass accessories like candle holders %26amp; glass lampshades etc..it will look stylish fresh %26amp; classy, buy some silk bedding in similar colours and some canvas prints to decorate, it'll look fab!! Ps use thick masking tape on the edges of the cieling %26amp; skirting boards aswell as around light switches etc.. if you are painting, as it will stop you painting the cieling by accident..also peel the tape off whilst its still wet so it doesnt dry with the paint %26amp; make it hard for you to take off!! good luck xx
Reply:dont want this color dont want that color.so choosy.paint it black
Reply:Lilac sounds great. Greens, and white complement that color beautifully. Is the woodwork around the windows painted? If it is, I'd make it white. A throw rug would also be a nice completment.
Reply:cool, very pale lime green - not acid or grass green - pretty pastel lime - with off white (not cream) rugs and brilliant white door frames, window frames etc - it looks great in the sun when you get it right
Reply:Choose a ivory walls... %26amp; curtains in dark blue %26amp; gold streaks... bedsheets in dark blue... and some white flowers!
Reply:I love blue and white in rooms with lots of light. There are so many possibilities with that background. Check out the Dulux website www.dulux.co.uk which lets you put there colours in a virtual room so you can get a better idea of the overall look.
Reply:not PURPLE!!!!

I PREFER BROWNS AND CREAMS, SO SORRY
Reply:go for lilac thats what i got. beautiful colour for a beautiful ladie
Reply:Orange is the new black.

Reply:llac sounds fine!!!xxx
Reply:well...... mint greens are good because they are relaxing..... but w/e
Reply:Ceiling to be white, 2 opposite longest walls in lilac. The other smaller walls in a variant of grey. Keep woodwork white and have an oatmeal carpet.
Reply:Lilac would be fine or a light blue or green that way their light colors and not overly feminine or masculine because if you have male or female guests you would probably want them to feel comfortable too
Reply:I spent several days in a lilac and white guest room and it was not a very welcoming room. I can't say why, because I normally like the color but maybe because it is on the cool side of the color wheel, it didn't feel like a room I wanted to spend much time in. If you like having guests,I suggest a nice warm pale peach or a soothing sage green.
